Run Wild for Habitat (or Take Your Time and Walk!)
The Crane Trust's
BUFFALO STAMPEDE
5K Trail Run * Kids Mile * Family Event
Saturday, July 19, 2014
The Crane Trust is holding its 2nd Annual Buffalo Stampede 5K Trail Run and Family Event Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center. This year's event will also include a special Kids Mile trail run and live fish and wildlife exhibits for runners, families and visitors to enjoy afterward. Plus hot dogs, refreshments and free face-painting for the kids.
After the race, everyone is invited to grab a bite to eat, cool their heels in the Platte River waters and hang out in our hands-on Habitat Zones with live native fish and wildlife exhibits. We'll be collecting a variety of native fish, amphibians, reptiles and small mammals that inhabit the rare Crane Trust lands and waters along the Platte River. The outdoor event is open to the public, with food and refreshments available until 1:00 p.m.
Proceeds from the Buffalo Stampede will be used to support Crane Trust conservation programs and activities along the Platte River.
The 5K course is open for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, and will be run on grassland trails. For the Kids Mile, participants must be 12 or under to run. Both courses will be run on mowed grassland trails and will be accurately measured and timed.
Start time for the 5K run is 8:00 a.m. sharp. Start time for the Kids Mile is 8:30 a.m. Both will be held at the Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center (I-80 Alda Exit #305), rain or shine. Runners and walkers are encouraged to register by July 9 to ensure they receive their FREE Buffalo Stampede t-shirt in their preferred size. All runners will receive a finisher medal/ribbon. Male and female winners of both races will receive Buffalo Stampede trophies.
